Unaerp is currently evaluated by INEP/MEC (Brazilian Ministry of Education) as the tenth best university in the state of São Paulo and fifth best among private institutions. It is also responsible for carrying out approximately 500 thousand visits per year to the Ribeirão Preto population. This commitment to quality education, investment in scientific production and the provision of services to the community is being reaffirmed on June 1st, the Institution's anniversary.


From 1924 until today, the history of Ribeirão Preto and the history of Unaerp have walked together. As a pioneer in higher education in the countryside of São Paulo, the University has a decisive participation in the construction of the reference center in science and education in which the city has become.
In this almost century-old history, the Institution excelled in investing in quality education, providing services to the population and producing knowledge that contributes to regional development. This reality occurs both on the main campus, in Ribeirão Preto, and on the Guarujá campus, in Baixada Santista.


16th BEST PRIVATE UNIVERSITY IN THE COUNTRY – The results are confirmed by the Ministry of Education (MEC) evaluations. In the classification released on April 26 - which was based on the scores of Enade (National Student Performance Exam) 2019 and indicators such as level and qualification of the faculty, programs’ pedagogical projects, master's and doctoral programs, teaching infrastructure, research and extension - Unaerp obtained Concept 5 for the Physiotherapy program, 11 programs with Concept 4 and five courses with Concept 3. The concept ranges from 0 to 5.


The University's IGC (General Course Index), once again, was Concept 4, for the eighth consecutive year, being the maximum 5. With this grade, in addition to the excellent ranking in the state of São Paulo, it is the 16th best private university in the country. INEP/MEC evaluated 2,070 public and private higher education institutions throughout Brazil, being the main quality indicator in Brazilian higher education.


DEAN'S OFFICE IMPLEMENTED THE HEALTH AREA – Under the management of the dean Elmara Lucia de Oliveira Bonini, the University of Ribeirão Preto has been taking large steps towards this level of excellence. When recognized as a university in 1985, the Institution had twelve higher education programs and the Technical College. Professor Elmara, who had led with her father, Professor Electro Bonini, the recognition project, started investments in expanding programs, research projects and opening clinics and laboratories for the study and provision of services to the community.


The second half of the 1980s, under the dean's management, witnessed a strong expansion of humanities and STEM programs and the birth of the health area programs. This advance culminated in the implementation of the Medicine program in 1997, foundation of the Guarujá Campus, in 1999, inauguration of the Electro Bonini Hospital, in 2003, of the Cidinha Bonini Maternity, in 2014 and, later, the Medicine program on the Guarujá campus, in 2019.


These are long-term projects that required dynamism, education and training of teachers and administrative staff, breadth of areas and lines of research and an unwavering commitment to sustainable and socially responsible management. “I consider that universities are, by excellence, institutions focused on public and social interests and I understand education as one of the pillars for sustainable development and the main vector of social inclusion”, emphasizes the dean.


FOUNDATION IN SCIENCE – Unaerp's solid development is supported by its integration with the community and investment in excellence in academic production.


The results are being gathered, especially at this time when, devastated by the pandemic, Brazilian society is experiencing one of its most tragic chapters. With the solidity provided by tradition and expertise, Unaerp works in fronts of the SUS – Brazil’s Unified Health System - for patients with Covid; makes adaptations in the two campuses and in services to serve the population safely, both in person, over the phone and online; implements new technology and graduate programs, in person and distance learning; in addition to adapting classrooms, laboratories and technological resources for practical activities and technology-mediated classes.


This is a moment in which the University of Ribeirão Preto reframes its concepts of higher education, its scientific production and service to the population. At 97, Unaerp is even more present and celebrates its anniversary, extending, as always, its ties of support, knowledge and science to the community.
