The professor of undergraduate and graduate courses in Dentistry from Unaerp, Marcelle Danelon, was awarded Regular Aid from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) for the development of part of the scientific research, in partnership with researcher Klaus Rischka, at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Applied Materials Research - IFAM, in Bremen, Germany.
The researcher says that the study seeks to develop a new toothpaste formulation containing nanoparticles of calcium phosphate to control tooth caries. According to the researcher, “the project was motivated by the increase in the incidence and prevalence of dental caries in children. Currently, the greatest scientific evidence for caries control is regular brushing with dentifrices with at least 1000 ppm of fluoride in the composition, this added to the association of other measures, since caries disease has a multifactorial character. However, the fluorine present in these formulations has a limited effect. Studies have been conducted with the proposal to enhance its action in controlling caries, associating calcium phosphate nanoparticles”.
Professor Marcelle also points out that the partnership will be important, not only to expand her learning process, through the execution and knowledge of different analyzes and her involvement in other research projects, but will also contribute to the process of internationalization of the Dentistry Program.
The Fapesp Regular Aid, granted to the professor, is registered by Process: 2019/16197-4
