International Relations Program Launches Export Guide for Companies in the Ribeirão Preto Region

Opening borders to engage in business with other countries can be a challenging task. In the metropolitan region of Ribeirão Preto, companies aiming to engage in import or export activities across various sectors can now rely on a comprehensive guide in e-book format, developed by the International Relations undergraduate program at the University of Ribeirão Preto (Unaerp).

The “Export and Import Guide for the Ribeirão Preto Metropolitan Region” was launched last Thursday, 28, at the Bassano Vaccarini Theater. The publication covers topics such as: “Exporting Medical, Hospital, and Dental Equipment”; “Exporting Animal Feed”; “Importing Fertilizers and Fertilizing Agents”; “Importing Medical Instruments and Apparatus”; and “Importing Manned and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles”.

Developed as part of the International Relations program's Extension and Community Service activities, the e-book is the result of two years of research, according to Professor Camilla Silva Geraldello. "The goal of this e-book is to bring the University closer to local companies, showing them how to export or import products that are significant in the Ribeirão Preto Metropolitan Region."

Co-author of the e-book and contributor to the chapter on “Importing Manned and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles”, student Artur Agreli shared that the experience was enriching for his professional development. "We learned a lot about how this process works, from legislation and taxation issues to the importation of aerial vehicles, which are one of the main products imported by Ribeirão Preto."

Launch Event - The launch event also featured a roundtable discussion on the importance of international trade to the region, with participation from Henrique Chaves Camargo, general coordinator of the Ribeirão Preto office of Amcham - American Chamber of Commerce; Henrique Reis, international coordinator of SUPERA Innovation and Technology Park; and Thayná Rais, foreign trade advisor at ACIRP - Ribeirão Preto Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The coordinator of the International Relations program, Professor Laura Donadelli, emphasized that the aim of the project was to encourage students to work on content that directly impacts the Ribeirão Preto region. "The idea was also to provide a service to the community, which is, in fact, our mission during Extension activities."
