Research Outline
- Mechanical, physicochemical and antimicrobial properties of materials used in endodontics and implantology
Studying the properties that materials should ideally possess permits to establish research parameters that enable the development of new products, as well as the assessment of commercially available products. This line of research aims to investigate the mechanical, physicochemical, and antimicrobial properties of endodontic instruments and materials, as well as of implants and prosthetic components.
- Biomechanical preparation of the root canal
The current endodontic paradigm is based on the cleaning, disinfection, and filling of root canals. Thus, the aim of this line of research is to evaluate the cleaning and disinfection capacity of different irrigating solutions associated with different instruments and protocols.
- Pathology applied to endodontics and implantology
Evaluation of histomorphological and pathological characteristics related to the general and specific reactional evolution inherent to endodontics and implantology , with emphasis on inflammatory and reparative phenomena involving the biological cycle of pulp tissues and bone, as well as their regeneration stages.
- Techniques and instruments used in dentistry and their interaction with endodontics and implantology
This line of research aims to evaluate techniques and instruments used in different areas of dentistry that may be applied in endodontics and implantology. Understanding these features is important to promote a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research approach .
