Program Outline

The Postgraduate Program in Environmental Technology at the University of Ribeirão Preto (UNAERP) is based on the social, economic and environmental pillars of sustainable development and is aligned with the goals of the National Environmental Policy (PNMA) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The program’s mission is to train highly qualified Master’s and Doctoral students with a multidisciplinary profile in order to meet the needs of a diversified, dynamic and multifaceted world, who should be capable of:
  • teaching, developing technological and scientific research, producing, expanding, deepening and disseminating knowledge in the environmental area, and developing innovative technologies and processes;
  • developing new sustainable products and processes using natural resources and industrial, agricultural and livestock waste;
  • studying microbial biodiversity as an opportunity to improve the quality of life of the Brazilian population and populations of developing countries;
  • improving the competitiveness of industry and agribusiness by applying theoretical and practical knowledge about treatment techniques, reuse and waste valorization, in addition to the control and reduction of environmental pollutants;
  • integrating regional, national and international research centers and groups of higher education institutions in the area of environmental technology.
The program has two lines of research: 1) sustainable development, and 2) pollution monitoring and control. These lines of research are essentially technological but their proposals include a dialogue between the natural, exact and social sciences, thereby increasing flexibility in the analysis of issues related to the environment, development, and society.
