UNAERP sent a delegation from the Division of National and International Cooperation - DCINI and the Exchange Office to the 30th Brazilian Association for International Education Conference - FAUBAI, the largest event on the internationalization of higher education in Latin America. The conference was held in Rio de Janeiro from April 14 to 18, 2018, with the theme "Internationalization and Research: Challenges and Strategies".
The coordinator, Vanessa Bonini Panico, and the DCINI assistants Tatiane Martins, Marcelo Evangelista and Lucas Ferrari, participated in workshops, plenary lectures and parallel sessions that addressed, among other topics, the impact of international cooperation in research, international rankings, interculturality, strategic cooperation and policies for the reception of refugees in Brazilian HEIs.
In addition to keeping up to date to new trends in internationalization in Brazil and worldwide, during the event, UNAERP delegation could also meet with international partner institutions, strengthen existing cooperation, and make contact with other foreign universities.
In this edition, the new National Director of FAUBAI was elected for the 2018-2020 biennium, and UNAERP DCINI coordinator, Vanessa Bonini Panico, remained as Treasurer of the Board, a position she has held since 2014.
More than 600 participants from 30 countries, among international relations managers and specialists in internationalization of higher education in Brazil and abroad were at the event, showing that internationalization has acquired great importance for Brazilian and world higher education in recent years.
FAUBAI
Brazilian Association for International Education - FAUBAI, created in 1988, is a non-profit association with more than 250 members, among the most important public and private institutions, promoting, with international organizations and agencies, the internationalization of Brazilian Higher Education Institutions (IES), professional training of its members and the dissemination of the country's higher education system abroad.
