On this Friday afternoon, 3rd, Unaerp held the award ceremony for the 22nd edition of the National Congress of Scientific Initiation and Research (Conic) whose theme was “Science and Technology in the Fight Against the Pandemic”. The event took place in person, in Block C of the campus, and was attended by qualified delegates who, on the occasion, received prizes and certificates of participation.
The student Pedro Soares Neves Neto, from the Chemical Engineering program at Unaerp, won 1st place in the area of Maths, Natural and Technological Sciences, in the oral presentation modality, with the work “In Silico Identification of Candidate Epitopes for Alzheimer's vaccine”. The research aimed to find a way, with immunotherapy, to deal with the disease. “Having contact with all the professors who evaluated our work is very important for us to improve it, and evolve in the academic environment and also as a professional”, says the student.
Also in the oral modality, the 2nd place in the area of Humanities and Social Sciences went to the student Jade Cristina Teixeira, who is attending the last semester of the Advertising and Marketing program. Guided by professor João Flávio de Almeida, she presented the work “The production of images in social networks by university students: 'art' and 'aesthetics' as ideological tools”, addressing the power that the social network has over society and how image production can affect the real world through cosmetic surgery. “Knowing that your work is important and that it was awarded is very good, especially now that I'm leaving college”, she celebrates.
Ana Beatriz Dalla Déa Trombini, a medical student, presented the work “Mental suffering in children and adolescents during the pandemic” and won 3rd place in the area of Health Sciences, in the panel modality. “Research had the results we imagined, anxiety and depression increased by more than 40% among children, so it's very important that we think about that”, she points out.
The Director of Teaching, Research and Extension at Unaerp – University of Ribeirão Preto, professor Neide Aparecida de Souza Lehfeld, explains that this year’s edition featured excellent works, presenting great scientific depth and incredible products and results in all areas of knowledge. “It can be seen that students are increasingly improving in the development of science and technology in the undergraduate period, which is very important for the professional training and construction of these next researchers as authors, with excellent leadership”, she points out.
According to the coordinator of the Scientific Committee of Conic, Professor Luciana Rezende Alves de Oliveira, the research adds social and institutional value in a very large dimension, contributing to the improvement of the population's quality of life. “The award represents, for researchers and for the institution, the stimulus for strengthening the engagement of undergraduate and graduate students in scientific research, contributing to the training of more qualified professionals who seek innovation”, she adds.Part of the Conic Organizing Committee team: Professors Luciana Rezende Alves de Oliveira, Neide Aparecida de Souza Lehfeld and Daniela Pereira Tincani
