Swimmer João Vitor Nascimento, technical manager of Unaerp Guarujá Swimming team of the Training Champions for Life project, became South American champion in the 400 Medley and runner-up in the 200 Medley of the South American Master Swimming Championship 2021. Tournament was held on December 1st and 5th, at Clube de Regatas Vasco da Gama, in Rio de Janeiro.
In addition to achieving two podiums, Nascimento placed fourth in two other events, the 100m backstroke and 200m backstroke. João Vitor Nascimento had already been consecrated Brazilian Champion in July 2021 in the 100m butterfly event in the Pre-Master category (athletes between 20 and 24 years old), and celebrates the recent results.
“I am very happy and grateful for this incredible competition. In addition to the medals, I was able to make better personal marks and climb to the highest place on the podium.” Nascimento also emphasizes that the Master Swimming competitions have something different because they are for swimmers over 20 years old up to 90 years old or more. "Many athletes are there to overcome their limits and challenges, have fun, live, and that's what's amazing. Each one does their race with their specific objective. Sport transforms and changes lives".
650 athletes from 9 countries and 120 teams participated in the Championship.
Team - Unaerp athletes linked to the Paulista Aquatic Federation will participate in the São Paulo Swimming Super Cup between 12/10 and 12/12 in São Caetano.
