In June, Unaerp received professors Sara Biscaya and Yreilyn Cartagena, from the University of Huddersfield, in England, and professor Raúl Javier Damiani Najarro from the Catholic University of Santa Maria for a meeting with the institution's board of directors and coordination of the Architecture and Urbanism program.
The meetings, which took place on the 26th and 28th, respectively, were attended by the Rector of Unaerp, Professor Suzelei de Castro França; the Director of Teaching, Research and Extension, Professor Rafael Tomaz de Oliveira; the undergraduate programs coordinator, professor Sonia Maria Camargo dos Santos; the coordinator of the Architecture and Urbanism program, professor Edson Salerno Júnior; the coordinator of the Civil Engineering program, Claudio Rodrigues dos Santos; and the Supervisor of International Agreements and Partnerships, Lucas da Costa Ferrari.
The Rector of Unaerp, Professor Suzelei de Castro França, explains that the University develops a strong work focused on international cooperation and collaborations with foreign institutions. "We currently have more than 90 agreements signed with universities abroad and we are increasingly expanding these collaborations in order to provide more opportunities for our students, professors and collaborators to have international experiences, improve all their knowledge and participate in this world that is increasingly globalized", he points out.
Representatives of foreign universities were welcomed by the institution's board of directors
Professor Edson Salerno Júnior, coordinator of the Architecture and Urbanism program, says that the contact with the representatives of the University of Huddersfield was motivated by a student on the course who already knew the institution's leaders. Professor Raul Najarro, from the Catholic University of Santa Maria, sought out Unaerp to develop virtual exchange and research activities. "Students benefit because they have an expanded repertoire, knowledge of a different culture. When we do activities within Ateliê de Projetos, students get, together with foreign students, different solutions to a problem that is national, regional, local. In terms of research development, we broaden our research horizon", he adds.
For Professor Sara Biscaya, director of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Huddersfield, any contact or approach made with other universities, whether in the country or abroad, is always beneficial for both parties. "We see what other institutions are thinking and doing and from there other opportunities arise both to develop research projects and to build bridges for our students", says the researcher.
