6th edition of InterUnaerp has the participation of 650 athletes


Between September 22nd and October 3rd, the UNAERP undergraduate sports league, promoted the InterUnaerp 2023. The competition, which included 650 athletes, was organized by the Department of Sports, Culture and Well-being and university athletics. The opening of the event took place on the 22nd at the campus’ sports center.

In the competition, athletes participated in collective and individual sports, such as basketball; handball; futsal; beach volleyball; beach tennis; athletics; swimming and FIFA 2023. For Bernardo Bonini, coordinator of the Sports and Wellbeing Center, this year's edition aims to promote “respect for others, trying to make the golden rule prevail, which is ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you’”.


In the competition, athletes participated in collective and individual sports.

Bernardo also highlighted that InterUnaerp motivates the practice of sport and its benefits to the student's health. “To enjoy the benefits of sport, it is important that there is consistency and daily practice.”

Prof. Suzelei de Castro França, Unaerp Rector, states that student athletes are much more integrated into the University as they begin to have a sense of belonging. “This student has a good academic performance, develops teamwork skills and obtains good psychological training, knowing how to overcome issues related to frustration, losses and gains, essential values for survival, resilience and life in society”.


For the Rector Suzelei de Castro França, the student that is an athlete is more integrated into the University life.

SPORTING SPIRIT - International student Epifanio Nhanca Djedjo, from Guinea-Bissau, spoke at the opening of the event and highlighted that athletes' participation in the championship must be based on loyalty; sportsmanship and respect for opponents, teammates and the organizing committee. “We will take part in this game respecting and complying with all the rules that govern them, in the true sporting spirit for the glory of the sport and the honor of our teams. With this, we carry the ethics, morals and conduct nurtured by this institution”, highlighted the International Relations student in the competition's oath.

International student Epifanio Nhanca Djedjo spoke at the opening of the games.

In charge of lighting the event's pyre, Victor Hugo Costa, a student of the Physiotherapy course, explained his happiness in having this participation in the opening ceremony of the games. “I am very happy to participate in an event of this size, which we love and which relaxes the mind. We study a lot here, but this also helps to take care of our mind. I am very flattered.”

Student Leonardo Solano Penteado, an athlete in the competition, said that participating in the event is “an honor, as the college always provides for the well-being of its students and sport is fundamental for this to happen. So, this diversity and unity between students and athletes at the college provides great social and psychological benefits.”
