University of Coimbra Lecturer Gives Lecture at Bassano Vaccarini Theater

The undergraduate program and Graduate Program in Law at Unaerp promoted the lecture "Jurisprudentialism and Person" last Thursday, the 22nd, at the Bassano Vaccarini Theater, given by Professor Ana Margarida Simões Gaudêncio from the Faculty of Law at the University of Coimbra, Portugal.

According to the lecturer, the conversation with the undergraduate and Master's students addressed the jurisprudential perspective of Law and the consideration of the legal subject as a person. "Therefore, we had a historical and systematic approach to the perspective of Law aimed at presenting a response that discusses the functionalization of Law in certain currents."

The lecture is the result of a partnership between Unaerp and the University of Coimbra

The Portuguese jurist also emphasizes the importance of knowledge exchange among students, legal professionals, and researchers in the field. "This sharing enriches us mutually. We share the language, much of the culture, and have much to learn and reflect on what is common, but also on what is different in our legal systems, in concrete communities."

According to Professor Luiz Eugenio Scarpino Junior, lecturer in the Law program and coordinator of the Legal Assistance Office, the University of Coimbra is one of the main partners of the institution, being the most traditional in Portugal and housing the roots of Brazilian Law. "It is an occasion for us to connect with Europe, with the studies being conducted in Portugal, to have the opportunity to engage in this dialogue and take the research we are producing here. It is always a moment of great benefit, whether for our undergraduate students, but mainly for the Master's and Doctoral students, who mainly see an opportunity for improvement and new informative perspectives."

The lecture clarified to the students the issue of jurisprudence in the judicial sphere

Professor Juvêncio Borges Silva, from the Unaerp Law Program, explains that the lecture addresses a relevant topic in the legal world, considering that the decisions of the Courts have a significant impact on society. The professor also emphasizes the importance of the partnership between the two institutions. "The themes that are worked on, what happens in Europe, and the interpretation of Law by European scholars, in the case of Portugal, have significant importance for Brazil. We constantly have Unaerp students going to Coimbra, so this dialogue with the institution and its lecturers is very important."

Finally, student Juciene de Passos Mateus, who is in the fifth stage of the Law undergraduate program, states that the lecture given by Professor Ana Margarida is a watershed moment. "Having a lecturer from another country bringing knowledge here to us is important for my growth within the University and for a better understanding of jurisprudence."
