On June 1st, the University of Ribeirão Preto, maintained by AERP (Ribeirão Preto Teaching Association), completes 100 years of history and excellence in quality in teaching, research and provision of services to the community, receiving the Institution Seal Socially Responsible Award granted by the Brazilian Association of Higher Education Supporters - ABMES.

Conceived by professor Electro Bonini from the end of the 1950s, the University has consolidated itself, throughout its centennial journey, as a high-level research center, establishing partnerships with around 100 foreign institutions on five continents, training generations of professionals who are references in the country and abroad, monitoring and solving, along with the development of the Institution, the needs and concerns of the population.


The University of Ribeirão Preto celebrates its 100th anniversary on June 1st with special programming

Commemorative events - The centenary celebration began with the return of the “Unaerp Solidária” event, which brought together free assistance and guidance in the areas of healthcare, humanities and STEM for the population. The action took place on May 24th and 25th, Friday and Saturday, at Praça Carlos Gomes, with the participation of the entire academic community, including students and teachers.

Continuing the celebrations, the University held on June 4th, at 9:30 am, an ecumenical celebration at Cruzeiro, Unaerp campus. On the 4th, at 11 am, the Rectory also hand over the stamp commemorating the Institution's 100th anniversary.

On June 7th, a ceremony took place at Theatro Pedro II, in the city center, to commemorate the date, which will also feature the screening of an institutional video produced by TV Unaerp. Starting at 7pm, the event is aimed at the academic community and authorities. On the 27th, at 7:30 pm, a tribute to the University will be held in the Council Chamber, with the participation of guests from the Chamber and authorities.


The Institution has established itself as a center for teaching, research and provision of services to the community

Cultural Week - Also in celebration of the centenary, the artist Beto Candia inaugurates on the 5th, at 9:20 am, at the Centro de Convivência, the work entitled “100 years”. During the event, which is a highlight in the program of the III Unaerp Cultural Week, there will be a special tribute from ALARP - Academia Brasileira de Letras e Artes de Ribeirão Preto, followed by a musical performance by the Trio Gilda Montans, Gustavo Molinari and Cristina Modé, currently conductor of the Unaerp Choir.

The Week's activities took place between the 3rd and 7th of June and include workshops, cultural presentations, exhibitions, artistic interventions and the book launch of the Institution's Poem Exhibition. Another action is the traditional “Baquetas Hunt” competition, which rewards invitations to João Rock.


Documentary, book and project "Vozes do Centenário" tell the trajectory and history of Unaerp, from its foundation to the present day

Historical rescue - With the aim of remembering and celebrating the trajectory of excellence over 100 years, the University also produced the “Vozes do centenário” project and makes available, from June 1st, a collection of testimonies that were and are part of of Unaerp's history, including former coordinators and employees, first course coordinators, as well as current directors, teachers and collaborators from the Ribeirão and Guarujá campuses. The videos can be accessed on TV Unaerp's YouTube channel and on social media.

Unaerp's trajectory, from its creation to the present day, will also be highlighted in a documentary produced by TV Unaerp and a book written by journalist Galeno Amorim, which will be released in the second half of the year. The historical recovery of the Institution's journey in education was carried out based on archival research and interviews with board members, collaborators, teachers, former employees, coordinators and teachers and graduates.

The institutional portal is also showing a timeline with some of the historical milestones from the Ribeirão Preto Teaching Association, in 1924, to the present day, including moments such as the creation of Law, Social Service, Administration and Physical Education courses in the 1960s. Another milestone is the recognition of the University in 1985, the implementation of the Medicine course in 1997, the inauguration of the Guarujá campus in 1999 and the achievement of Concept 5 in the re-accreditation process by MEC in 2023.
