The International Relations and Law programs at Unaerp hosted the 5th edition of the International Law Symposium on May 23rd and 24th, focusing on "Conflicts in the Contemporary Order." The event took place at the Unaerp Bassano Vaccarini Theater.

The event centered around the theme "Conflicts in the Contemporary Order"
Laura Meneghim Donadelli, coordinator of the International Relations program, emphasized the significance of this year's theme, particularly regarding rights during war. She stated, "In this scenario of intensified international conflicts, the resurgence of geopolitics, and territorial disputes among states, whether for religious or geopolitical reasons, we bring this subject for students to reflect on International Law; what are the limits of state action in these conflicts, how states can defend themselves, what is permitted by law, and how they can act. Additionally, the international protection of those affected by these conflicts."
Camilla Silva Geraldello, supervisor of the Research and Study Center in International Relations and Consultancy in Foreign Trade (NEPRI/NECCEX), one of the organizers of the Symposium alongside the Practical Teaching Center (NEP), highlighted the hybrid nature of the congress and stressed the importance of discussing the theme. She said, "We bring speakers who address current issues to help students delve into topics that they may not have the opportunity to explore during their undergraduate studies. Most importantly, by understanding how these issues are unfolding, it helps students to develop a theoretical framework, providing them with the tools to analyze these topics."
The fifth edition of the Symposium featured lectures by professors from outside Unaerp
Professor Danilo Garnica Simini, who teaches in the Law and International Relations programs at the institution, emphasized the essential nature of events like the International Law Symposium for the entire academic community. He stated, "Events like these, where students have the opportunity to interact with professors from other universities, gaining different perspectives and theoretical approaches, enable them to consider topics for future research, thesis themes, scientific articles. Thus, it fosters a very interesting exchange of ideas."
Finally, Luana Salomão, a Master's student in Collective Law and Citizenship in the Postgraduate Law Program, underscored the importance of participating in all events and symposiums offered by Unaerp for professional development. She said, "For us, students, in my case, a master's student who also intends to pursue a career in teaching in addition to research, these activities are of great importance and significance."
