In April, Unaerp hosted a visit from professors Paco Hulpiau and Kaat Janssens from Howest University of Applied Sciences, along with representatives from the Polytechnic Institute of Beja. The visitors included Professor Maria de Fátima Nunes de Carvalho, President of the Institute, and Maria Cristina Vilhena Revez Pereira Palma, Coordinator of the Institute’s International Relations Office. During their stay, the professors toured the Ribeirão campus and also visited the Guarujá campus and the Ilha dos Arvoredos.
These visits are part of Unaerp's internationalization program, which includes over 90 global partnerships through the Division of National and International Interinstitutional Cooperation (DCINI).
Short Course on Legal Theory - On April 11 and 12, Professor Eric Millard, a faculty member at the University of Paris Ouest-Nanterre La Défense and honorary member of the Institut Universitaire de France, delivered a mini-course on Legal Theory. The event was organized by the Graduate Law Program and was open to undergraduate and graduate students, with remote participation from students at partner institutions.
Professor Rabah Belaidi, a faculty member and coordinator of the Graduate Program in Agrarian Law at the Federal University of Goiás for the 2023-2025 term, emphasized the significance of the long-standing cooperation with the University of Paris, noting the event’s importance for both Brazilian universities and the field of Legal Theory. "It’s been almost ten years since we started this partnership, and it continues to strengthen our ties. Professor Eric Millard is highly regarded internationally, making this event a great opportunity for us, CAPES, and internationalization," he said.
Professor Maria Cristina Vidotte Blanco Tárrega, from Unaerp's Graduate Law Program, highlighted that the mini-course is held annually by Professor Millard, offering different perspectives each year. "It is very important for students, expanding their knowledge base and research opportunities. All universities must aim for internationalization, and Unaerp’s collaboration with prominent institutions like the University of Paris elevates the quality of education here."
Eric Millard is a faculty member at the University of Paris Ouest-Nanterre La Défense and an honorary member of the Institut Universitaire de France.
Global Learning: Life Sciences - In addition to campus tours, the visiting Belgian professors also taught courses as part of the Global Learning – Life Sciences program, which was organized by Unaerp’s Graduate Biotechnology Program from April 15-19. This initiative included participation from both undergraduate and graduate students. Professors Hulpiau and Janssens also visited the Guarujá campus and Ilha dos Arvoredos.
During their time at the Ribeirão campus, the professors explored various areas of the University, including the Faculty Lounge, the Chemical Engineering facilities, the laboratories used by the Journalism and Advertising programs, and the Unaerp Radio station. They also visited the University Library, the Bassano Vaccarini Theater, the sports complex, and the Cidinha Bonini University Pharmacy.
Professor Mozart de Azevedo Marins, coordinator of the Graduate Biotechnology Program, explained that student interactions with international professors are crucial for fostering a more innovative research environment and enabling the development of new projects. "The visit by the Howest professors was extremely valuable in this regard, as it opened up various opportunities for joint teaching and research initiatives with Unaerp’s Biotechnology Program."
During their visit, the Belgian professors toured the campus and taught the Global Learning – Life Sciences course.
Visit from the Polytechnic Institute of Beja
On April 19, Unaerp hosted a visit from representatives of the Polytechnic Institute of Beja, Portugal. The visitors included Professor Maria de Fátima Nunes de Carvalho, President of the Institute, and Maria Cristina Vilhena Revez Pereira Palma, Coordinator of the Institute’s International Relations Office.
During their visit, the Portuguese representatives toured the facilities of various programs, including Administration, Journalism (which includes TV Unaerp), Nutrition, Physical Education, Pharmacy, Nursing, the Electro Bonini Hospital, the University Pharmacy, Nursing Laboratories, and the Chemical Engineering and Environmental Technology Building.
The visits from international professors strengthen the University’s internationalization
According to Professor Vanessa França Bonini Panico, Director of International Cooperation at Unaerp, the University has been working for several years to create multicultural environments that promote the development of intercultural skills. "The visit of international professors facilitates the exchange of knowledge, as it allows us to learn new techniques, processes, and teaching methodologies." Vanessa also pointed out that these international visits help make globalization more accessible to those who are unable to participate in international mobility programs.
