UNAERP STUDENTS ARE AMONG HACKRIBEIRÃO 2019 WINNERS

Two Unaerp students are among the winners of the third edition of HackRibeirão, which took place on October 5 and 6, at Supera Parque de Inovação e Tecnologia, in Ribeirão Preto. Wesley de Oliveira Mendes, a Computer Engineering student and Gabriel Pestrini, Software Engineering student, in partnership with other members, developed a platform that aims to tackle the frauds that occur in public tender processes in Brazil.

The event consisted of a programming marathon aimed at finding solutions to combat corruption in public tender and public procurement processes, as well as the development of municipal complaint systems. Entitled “AUDIT”, the technology developed by the winning group mines data from official journals and analyzes possibilities for fraud according to the legal criteria of bidding laws. This transparently provides information that enables the user to evaluate each process and report it if it finds an illegal situation.

According to Professor Otávio Marson Junior, coordinator of the Computer Engineering course, the participation of students in programming marathons like this is a great stimulus. “At these events, students experience various aspects they will encounter in the job market and bring it back to university, challenging and encouraging other colleagues,” he explains.

Wesley says the experience provided great learning, contributing to his technical and academic enrichment. “In the first event I went to, I had no knowledge and there I met people who taught me a lot. I see a great evolution, because I was able to take the learning of the college, the knowledge that the teachers provided me and what I was able to search with research. It also helped a lot in my professional career, because I got an internship in the area because of these events, the projects I have been developing and the knowledge gained in college” he says.

For Gabriel Pestrini, it is always very important to participate in events and marathons that involve software development, whether they are focused on teaching or practice. “This type of event has a very good professional load. You can gain work and curriculum experience as it also contributes to a software developer's resume. Besides networking, which is fantastic, there is the opportunity to meet many professionals not only in your area, but in related areas, such as business, design”, he says.

The event had 40 participants, divided into 8 teams. The winning team received a cash prize and a day of immersion at CCM Tecnologia Company, the marathon sponsor.
