The competition is based on a cross-functional business simulation with a focus on value chain management. The business game challenges its participants to implement an effective supply chain strategy for a (virtual) fruit juice manufacturer facing a decline in performance.
The game is versatile and can be used in programs of varying complexity and at all levels of higher education, so that students can develop their skills. In addition, it can be used for internal training within organizations to promote alignment and highlight the importance of strategic management.
The theme of this year's edition was “Risk Management in Global Supply Chains”, which considered a real situation as a scenario: the outbreak of coronaviruses that challenged global supply chains. As local disruptions occur, from manufacturing to distribution, entire and global supply chains are affected.
Participants had to respond to this problem by making smart and strategic decisions. This challenge was a way for educators to learn about the game, in addition to interacting with other educators from around the world and learning new ways of teaching. The competition took place between September 13th and October 22nd.
The dispute had representatives from six European countries, five from Latin America, three from Asia, in addition to the United States.
The winning team was Latinos para el Mundo, composed by Rosalyn Huayllani Miranda (Continental University of Peru), Daniel Fernando Bozutti (Unaerp), Igor Lopes Martinez (Universidad Tecnológica de la Habana), Kleber Espposto (USP) and Luciano Costa Santos (UFPB).
The awards ceremony took place on October 29th.
