Introduction
One of the main purposes of the University of Ribeirão Preto is to produce new
knowledge which will serve to qualify teaching and bring innovation and benefits to
the population.
Unaerp invests in scientific production even before becoming a university.
Its first projects, in the first half of the 1980s, were in the areas of Biotechnology,
Environment, Education, Culture, Social Work, and Public Management.
From those initiatives, the University continued to invest in the training of researchers,
installed laboratories and equipment, promoted scientific initiation activities and
consolidated Academic Master’s and Doctorate Programs (Stricto Sensu).
Step by step, the Institution's researchers began to publish in international journals
with a high impact factor and achieved results such as the Scientific Merit Award of the
State of São Paulo won by the Biotechnology Unit, among others.
Thanks to these investments, Unaerp holds today five Master's and four Doctorate
programs, 45 research groups registered within the CNPq, twelve patents, and
fourteen software registrations. The University maintains partnerships with the main
research funding agencies such as CNPq, Fapesp, Finep and CAPES, among others, in
addition to partnerships with private organizations, public institutions and the third
sector, especially in the regions where the University's campuses are located.
